    Checking Valves

    by Scott_26 » Sun Jan 27, 2008 9:39 am

I know you guys get these questions all the time so bear with me.I have a 2006 CRF250R and was looking at the articles on checking valve clearances. They seem to be more detailed than my manual. I was wondering which one would be better to follow as their is one on a CRF450R and another on a CRF250X. I know I will have to go to my manual for specks. This will be my third season with the bike and and it has started really good and still does but i feel that I may be pushing my luck and desperately need to check them before the season starts. Any information would be great.

Checking the valves is easy. This 450r link should help you.

Actually the CRF 250X would be identical to the CRF 250R. Specs and procedure. All parts between the 250's are the same in the valve train up through 2007.

The CRF 450R would be the same as the CRF 450X.

The 250's have the cam gear integral to the shaft, whereas the 450's have a removable cam gear.
