Usually I will wait to bid. The ones that bid on the first day think that no one is going to bid on it....LOL.

Got mine installed today. I bolted it in with the socket botton head bolts. I recommened doing it this way. It is very easy to do and there are plenty of threads to bolt to. Its in there very good. It's way easier to service this way if that ever arises, plus it looks kickass.

I bought the entire 05 R exhaust for $50 lightly used and only scrached but workd great.
I swaped the header allso, it looks to be about an inch shorter and 1/8" larger diameter.
Has annybody used the "R" header on their "X" bike?
I did the ap mod lastnight and will try it all out next weekend at Eddieville Wa.

You guys think its too late to find one of these? What would be the next best exhaust besides this setup?

When you mean "one of these"...do you mean the 04-05 CRF250 Exhaust or the PMB insert?

You can find the exhausts on ebay all of the time...there have been several sold in the past month. I just bought one from a CRFonly member 2 weeks ago. There are plenty out there if you are resourceful. It sucks though that Service Honda doesn't sell them any more...they were brand new and cheap too.

ok thanks, I just started looking yesterday. I will keep searching. :-) Would you say this is better than say an FMF pipe? I havent heard the r pipe in person.

The sound quality is fine to me and about 94dB...but honestly I've never heard an FMF pipe...or really paid attention to it if I have heard one. Without them side by side, It would be tough to compare.

When repacking your exhaust, if your Promotobillet endcap is stuck, you might want to try this method.

Find some tiedown material and rig it up like this with the insert bolts. Make sure to melt the internal edges a bit so the material doesn't fray and rip. Put the rope around something stationary and pull on the can until it pops free.

    r-can performance

    by mcgentry » Wed Feb 02, 2011 12:18 pm

What are the performance differences between the r can with the pro moto billet end cap and the stock x can with the baffle removed? I've thought about doing this mod for a while and I just wanted to know if there are any performance gains. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    I am also curious.

I run the stock X pipe with the baffle removed and am considering the 450R pipe with end cap.

What was the difference in sound and how was performance affected when switching to the 450R pipe with PMB end cap?
