sorry for not getting back to you guys for a long time, i was sort of on "vacation" in the east. but im back now, and my guide STILL hasnt come in and im suspecting that the dealer forgot to order it the first time :x so in the meantime ive started my write up of part 2 but dont want to post it until its all done.

Lithium, nice ride man, there are lots of BMW's, MERC's etc... over here, and the speed limit in most of the countries is 130 km/h which is about 80 mph and ive heard (havent seen them for myself yet) that some sections are as high as 160km/h so id bet youd have a blast with your 4.0L 540 over here. :P by sport package do you mean the M package?

woods riding? id have to look into it, but last time i heard, its illegal here to ride in the woods, and the fine can even include jail time. but there are lots of hare scramble like races. thier called "country cross" over here, and their easy to enter. i wanted to start competition over here this year but my bike... well you know what happened, so i have to wait untill all my parts are in.

Yes sir.. its the M-package with the 290hp 4.4 liter. :) factory lowered suspension, halo hid headlights and staggered 17" wheels. Ive had a ton of different cars and this is the nicest one yet but does require a lot of maintenance.

Sucks about your parts. Hopefully they will get show up soon. Did you get the rest of the bike back together? looking forward to the second write up...

the M package is sweet. id love to roll in a car like that some day :D high maintenance really? in what way? proly the closest i got to riding in something like that was a friends audi SR 4. i think thats how their labeled, man that thing was smooth.

as for the bike, its pretty much as assembled as its gonna get until i get that guide in, in the meantime i changed my muffler packing (thanks to these forums ;) ) and also resealed my airbox. so hopefully ill get that guide in soon enough, then i can START RIDING AGAIN man i feel like i havent riddin in ages i proly forgot how :( but i'll be sure to post the second write up ASAP once i get everything in.

man.. BMW= break my wallet :D something is always breaking. Nothing really major just little things. Like the heater blower motor bearings, the temperature controller, the roll up sun shade broke, the inner door seal went bad and ended up with about 10mm of water on the floor in the back... :? suspension bushings, just little things to keep a man tinkering. But its totally worth with. Its an outstanding car to drive. Especially at 120mph+ speeds, even better is turning off traction control on slightly wet pavement to let the 12 year old out with out breaking something. But even better then that! is most people who buy BMW's here in the states don't know or care to know how to work on them so older ones are CHEAP. I saw the build sheet on this car and the first buyer paid $57,000 in 2002. The next guy paid $40,000 in 2004 and now in 2009 picked it up for $12,750 with 68k miles .. same price as a used honda :D

But the down side is other BMW owners  Well at least guys our age. Far too many pretty boy rich kids with silver spoons up their corn holes drive BMW's. You should see some of the douche bags that are at drive in/meets. Jesus...

Good to hear your engine is in frame... but damn son. By the time that guide gets there you could have carved a new one out of a block of polyurethane with a pocket knife and called it a day.

    lol :D
yeah probobly, but in my case it would take another 2 weeks for the hardware store to order it in. by the way I STILL dont have the guide in. its supposed to come non monday now!!! and the best part is that im paying almost 60 euros for it!!! i just wanna start riding again.

id say that kinda maintenance is kinda standard. lots of cars with that many miles will have some of the same problems id imagine. totaly agree with you about the rich kids who's parents buy them new cars so that they can parade around like idiots. still remember my first car, 1988 ford tempo, ohhhh yeah! paid for it with my own hard earned cash. all i needed to go to school and back again.

theres a lot of things in the first pic. and i also live in europe so shipping and duty is also extra. off the top of my head in america these items cost:

    CLUTCH KIT $52
    FLYWHEEL PULLER $25
    SPARK PLUG $24
    CRF250R CRANKSHAFT KIT 189.00
    PISTON KIT 160.00
    TOP END GASKET KIT 48.00
    PACKING 20.00
    ROLLER 15.00
    BLOCK 20.00
    SWINGARM GUIDE 20.00
    T.CABLE 15.00
    T. CHAIN 58.00

atleast thats how much i paid for them. again shipping, duty and taxes are not included. looking at that list i dont even know how i came up with that kind of money! add in the timing chain tensioner guide which i paid 60 euros for :( and that about it.

writing up part 2 should have it up soon

I am still waiting six months for a motionpro gear jammer to arrive in Australia.

I have found worn front sprockets when clean do a great job.

    Great pics and write up.

i hear you buddy, i finished the second part of my crank rebuild, but posted it as a completely new topic as i would like to improve this version. thats an interesting idea using an old sprocket for a jammer, i just used some hard wood cut into a wedge. ohhh man, and tell me about part waits! i had to wait 2 weeks to get my tensioner guide in. it was awful. well be sure to check out part 2 and let me know what you all think. thanks

e-bay. but you have to remember that those prices are without tax and shipping so... another thing is, you got to watch out on e-bay, sometimes they'l send you the wrong, incomplete or even "fake" parts. and theres a longer wait time.
