    2019 CRF 125F Suspension

    by Ryanviva » Fri Feb 28, 2020 9:04 am

Bought my wife a brand new CRF 125F. It’s a little to small height wise. She loves the bike and just the right amount of power. Can I change the back shock to a heavier shock or bigger shock to gain a few inches(2/3) to help her?

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

Unfortunately , the issue with making the shock taller is it changes the way the linkage works , which would make the suspension bind , and/or make it unsafe ..... Basically you can shorten the throw of a shock or forks , because you are only limiting the existing travel but lengthening is not a real option , as there is no way to feasibly lengthen the shock shaft and/or forks , and if there was , then you still change the ratio of the linkage , and how it works with the swingarm as well as the bias front to rear , which would also render replacing the suspension with something longer from another bike with the same outcome , it just won't function correctly/safely ...... basically you would have to reengineer the entire bike , which obviously would not be practical , the only solution for that is to get a taller model bike , unfortunately ..... sorry :(
