    Rebuilt My Forks...Now Noise

    by WHEREDAFUGAWEE » Tue Mar 27, 2012 8:54 am

I have a 2005 crf 250x. I recently rebuilt my front forks, replaced seals, bushings, oil and resprung them. When i put them back on the tripple clamp and adjusted my compression and dampening adjustments, i noticed that the dampener adjusters on the bottom of the fork would continue to turn and not stop when i turned them clockwise or counterclockwise. I also hear a small banging noise inside the forks when i compress the fork. I have rebuilt forks in the past and have not had these problems. Any ideas would help.

    This happened to me recently,

the rebound adjuster is not correctly seated to the dampening push rod.

Take the forks off turn upside down and rebuild the rebound adjuster as per manual.

look at the manual it has all the steps and pictures to do this right.

    Thanks

I guess where i may have gone wrong is the correct gap between the fork damper locknut and the fork center bolt?
