Hi Guy's i have a question about the 2009 450x is anyone running the scotts stabiliser? Are they worth the effort
Does it stabilise the nerveous feeling of the bike at high speed.
Most of my riding is high speed trail/desert

welcome to the site. i ride a '05 450X and i would absolutely not throw a leg over for any serious riding without my Scotts Stabilizer. it will help control the twitching at speed, it will help control the front end in slow or fast trail trash and in deep sand. not only does it give you more confidence but it reduces fatigue as it's helping reduce some of the shock and force before it get to your hands.
we stock these in every configuration possible so if you have questions about mounting options let me know.

I couldn't agree more with Ken. Scotts stab. is the best safety/control mod you can buy. It is like driving a 1966 VW bug with out one and then a 2011 Cadillac with. I highly recommend getting one, you'll love it.

My update on stabiliser
1st ride yesterday afternoon feels good, was stable and comfortable cornering soft sandy berms and front end was definately more stable at high speed as was said.
Some more fine tuning but i am very happy with the kit and performance so far.

excellent report. if you are ever in doubt about the money spent on your stabilizer, find the nastiest trail trash you can and run through it with the stablizer and then take it off and run it again. i guarantee that will be the last time you take if off.

the worst the trail conditions the better it gets. enjoy.

Can you retrofit the 2009 factory stabilizer on the 2005? I'm looking for a cheaper option than the $500 Scott. Is it possible? Would it be worth it?
Thanks
Andrew

Found the answer... Need to do some drilling to make it work, Haven't seen anyone actually do that. The Scott or GPR seems to be better. Just wish it didn't cost so much!

the HPSD is primarily a turning dampener and has very little or no effect on straight line stability. both the scotts and the gpr do have influence in this area.

Gday Driver3
As Ken and the other guy's said previous post the scott damper is the best addition hands down for any serious riding. I would not waste my time trying to fit the HPSD just keep saving the $$$ and get the best. I have not looked back since buying mine.

I agree with wopv3c. The money that you will be saving on HPSD, you will have to pay in the hospital (God forbid)... Please do yourself a favor and spend that extra dollar to make your ride that much better... Stay thirsty my friends...
