ok have done the seal replacement on my sons 05' crf 250X so his friend asked me to do his 06' crf 250R. well got one thats not doing things right.

emptied the inner tube and refilled then slowly pumped the rod a few times to remove air, put the cap back on like normal and tested the rod for push back(out) and it does nothing. pull it back out and it suck itself back up.. can anyone tell me whats happening?

The inner seal on the floating piston on the base valve is bad.

Floating piston sits on the shaft just above the actual base valve.

That seal is a b*tch to replace. It's inside the floating piston. You must disassemble the whole base valve and remove the piston. Then disassemble the piston and remove the seal. It's not easy.

If you ever have the fork dissambly, you should easily change it. Call a complete bushing - oring kit. MSR make one for cheap, just don't know if they have the Floating piston o ring with it
