anyone had a dent in their fork leg??

recently i noticed my fork was leaking oil,,
so bought the seals and came to fit them today and noticed that i had a small dent in the fork leg and its where the seal will pass all the time,, hence oil leaking,,
is there any way of fixing this,, was thinking of filling with water and freezing it but too scared of it deforming my leg..

just prepare to buy a new one. You can always look on ebay for a complete set of forks. might be cheaper then you have more spare parts.

filling with water and freezing it?? WTF? ...what hapens when it thores out???...it leaks again! i cant make sense of that...
anyway i had the same problem on an old YZ 125 (before i went over to honda) so took my forks to the shop for new seals and the guy told me id be wasting my money on it until the fork had a new leg, but rather than a new leg it worked out way cheaper to just get a set of forks from a bike breaker.
If you're lucky the replacement forks wont even need a seal change yet so you'l save cash there too...

Water expands when you freeze it, therefore pushing the dent out in a slow and hopefully controlled manner.
Like they said above, you'll likely need new forks, or you can continue topping off leaking fluid (NOT reccommended)

You just have to replace it, I know it's a drag but that's all that can be done.
The old fil with water trick has worked for many...on very thin, flexible metals.
Not a chance on a fork leg. Doug
