The front right fork on my 06 CRF250X is leaking oil, its not to bad but enough to worry me. Will I still be able to ride it or do I have to take it to a Honda dealer for repair, what is wrong for it to leak and how much would it roughly cost is aus dollars to repair?

    Thanks

I don't know what the repair cost is but if you have damage it is probably the fork seals. I don't think it is very expensive. If you are just getting a small leak now and then, I wouldn't worry about it. That kind of leak can be prevented by releasing the built up air pressure in the forks after you ride. You just loosen the screw at the top of the fork until you hear a little air come out. There are 2 screws on the top of each fork. One is to release the air pressure and the other is the compresion damping. The one that is not labeled H and S is the one you want to turn.

All the tools and parts you need will cost you about the same as taking it to the dealer. But the next time will be much cheaper. It's easy to do if you're even slightly mechanically inclined.

first off do NOT let the leak go with the twinchamber forks. The outer oil level is used for bottoming and lubricating the fork bushings. If you let the leak go, the fork bushings do not get lubricated and then you are and extra $30 just in parts per fork and probably about an extra hour to the bill if you are paying someone.

You need to address the leak. It does damage to the fork and if it is leaking on the brake side, that is a safety hazard.
