    06' 450X suspension suggestions

    by Walsh3499 » Mon Mar 10, 2008 4:14 pm

I have an 06' CRF 450X. I weigh about 220 with my gear on. Right now my suspension is completely stock and it sucks. I see from reading the other posting that I will have to put new springs on...Does anybody have suggestions on what springs to go with? I do mainly dessert trail riding and a hare scramble or short enduro about once every two months. I would appreciate any help! Thanks

I just resprung my X with MX-Tech springs. I am 210 with gear, but over 6'3". I talked with the owner of the company and he suggested .47/.48kg fork springs and 5.7/5.8kg rear shock. Some would say this is to heavy for my weight, but the owner has to know something about his product. I felt comfortable with his suggestions and went with him.

Race tech, Mx-Tech, precision concepts, are probably good places to start. When I started looking for springs, I wanted to talk with somebody about my riding style.(HS, enduros, single track) There was so much ambiguity about springs and weight, I didn't know what to think. I picked the company that I was able to communicate my needs and was provided an answer to my questions.

I was 250 at the time I had my setup done and I ended up with a .48 front and 5.8 rear from Factory Connection.

Hi fellas, new guy here from Alberta, Canada.
    New '05 CRF450x owner previously rode a YZ490.
The suspension on this CRF is STIFF! man is it ever stiff. I weigh 220#s and would like to get a bit more fork action. Any thoughts on where to start with my new toy? reduced the setting on the rear spring but need to fine tune ride height/sag yet. Mainly confused about the forks for now.
    Thanks in advance.

I am a heavy guy as well and i got these setting from another forum. It works quite well for me.

Remember to write down where your settings are at now just in case you dont like this set up. It has worked great for me and i am at about 230lbs.
I would try this before you spend the money on suspension.

This adjustment would make it at the softest setting correct!!!
