    fork and shock springs

by Old Dude » Thu Dec 06, 2007 11:53 pm

Just got off of Race Techs spring rate calculator and they suggest that for my weight on my 250X I use a set of 462 fronts and a 5.4 rear. I see the OEM CRF250R shock spring is listed as the 5.2 and the 450X is listed as 5.5. The CRF450R OEM fork springs are listed as 460s. What are some thoughts on replacing my OEM fronts with the OEM 450R (460) and the rear with the OEM the 450X (5.5) or possibly the OEM 250R which is a little lighter at 5.2 then going with the Gold Valves

the stock springs are junk compared to good aftermarket ones , aftermarkets won't sag out on you like the stock ones do over time . they are made of better steel and are held to closer spring rate tolerances than the stock springs .

Yeah, I believe the stock CRF250X shock springs actually clocks in at about 4.8kg/mm
