    Goggle Fog

    by chadman » Sat Jan 22, 2005 11:48 am

I have had a bad problem with my goggles and glasses fogging up while ridding and have finally found a solution to fix it. So far I have tried the Scott anti fog wipes, Scott Motocross goggles with an anti fog coating, and Scott Ski goggles with a duel lens to prevent fog. Every one of those solutions failed! I do wear glasses under my goggles and I think that is part of the problem. Sometimes my goggles would fog, sometimes my glasses would fog, and sometimes both would fog.
I just tried a product called Fog-Tech and it worked great. You wipe this solution on the inside of your goggles and glasses and let it dry. It should last about 5-7 days before you have to retreat the goggles. I just tested this product for the first time today while ridding in about 20 degree F weather with a 25mph wind (Yes it was way to cold to be riding!). I did not have my goggles or glasses fog one time while riding today. Most of my riding was really slow and had a lot of stops since it was the first time I was taking my wife out on her new bike. This type of ridding would normally cause my goggles to fog fast, but it never happened today. Anyway I just wanted to pass this on to anyone that has a fog problem like me.

    Thanks,
    Chad

chad thanks for the tip. there use to be a product called "Cat Crap" (i know...what were they thinking) but it worked and worked well. i don't know if it's still out there or not but this product sounds very similar.

rub baby shampoo on the lens. then use a paper towel to remove it. we use this on our hazmat suits.no fog.

I was told to try regular Colgate toothpaste. Haven't given it a shot yet, though.

wipe the inside with rain-x, liquid soap, spit ...
    all works to a point

the Bear is one of these extreme hot heads, his goggles fog up on a normal German summer day
he gave up contact lenses because his goggles always fogged up and made him ride without, then cought some dust underneath a contact ...
he's had provue inserts in scott turbo van goggles for almost 2 seasons, seems to work great,
but 1. carry extra batteries, at least keep them in your car if your loops are not huge
    2. do not slam the motor against trees ;/
