    WD-40

    by hondafan » Sun Sep 19, 2004 6:34 pm

Hey this is one for the 2 stroke riders. if your pipe leaks like mine you can spray WD-40 on the area that is affected, let it sit for maybe 2 minutes, and hit it with pressure wash.. comes right off.

And for both 2 and 4 strokers: chain oil.... flys off... WD-40....pressure wash... get it??

Just a tiny bit from the vast knowledge of hondafan.

yes CRs are bad about leaking. i ran into a guy that had an '01 250 and his leaked in the same spot as mine. i would say this is normal for all CRs. although it gets on my nerves!

Also another tip for WD-40, anybody that's ever greases baerings knows that grease is a pin to get off after it's smeared all over your hands. So shoot WD-40 all over your hands and the grease (it's a degreaser) will come right off when wiped with a shop towel.

I saw the comment on CR's leaking...my girlfriend just got a '02 CR80 and it leeks like a sieve out of the header tube pipe. Is there anything that can be done and is this going to be a problem other than pissing off all the hairbags??

turns out i have personal experience with the cr80...it was my son's first bike. if you get the mix ratio correct it will help to some degree...however, the best thing to do is stay on the pipe...this is when the bike i burning as clean as possible. you'll never get rid of it all but mix and rpms makes a big difference.

Its great for taking off that sticky crud that is left when you take stickers off too. Clean your chain real well with it after you wash it. The WD stands for water displacing so you chain doesn't rust. Wipe or brush the chain then lube it real well. Buy it by the gallon and put in a spray bottle (cheaper in the long run)
    Great Stuff that WD40![/b]

I have read a ot of people recommending wd-40 for the chain after washing your bike, which is what I do. I have been told that wd-40 will damage the seals in a O ring or T ring chain. Does any one know ?

    Thanks - Dave

I use WD40 exclusively on my chains. I always wash my bike after riding and always WD40 the chain. I've not had any problems. I probably have 1500 miles on my X and have only had to adjust the chain once. Even then it was only a slight adjustment.

I've used it on my CR500 and almost never need to adjust the chain. It seems to work just fine.

If I put chain lube on it, I just end up with a mess after I ride. I don't know what to tell you. WD40 seems to work.
