Hi there, i would like to know what is the difference between CRF450X from 2005 to the ones from 2008 or later in terms of plastics (shrouds mainly). I wanted to buy a graphic kit but it just says that fit in 2009 CRF450X and i would like to know if is too hard to put the 2009 plastics on a 2005 or maybe give some cuts in the 2009 graphic kit to fit the 2005 plastics.

The difference is mainly the bolt location , i believe ( i have not tried this with the newer X graphics) , that you can manipulate them around the holes slightly and they will fit , its not much of a difference ,as i have a IMS 3.2 tank , and it was made for the 08 and newer 450X's , i just had to manipulate the 06 shrouds around a bit to get the holes to line up , but i did not have to alter the shrouds to make them fit , just push and pull a bit

So i am guessing the graphics will only be slightly off where they go around the bolt holes in the shrouds , but i think you can manipulate the graphics to fit , just make sure they are warm when applying them , so you can stretch them slightly to align them

I use the 08 450R Limited Edition Tribal Flame Graphics on my X , but i was able to trim them to fit the X as the shrouds are different than the R (look in my Garage), but the newer X shrouds are close enough you should be able to make them work with slight tweaking

Honda change the tank in 2008 so the tank bolt locations are different enough to make it difficult to use the '05-07 shrouds on a '08 up.

2006 CRF450X Left Plastic Side Cover
I bought new ones from UFO. On the elft side the stock cover seems to be attached to the air cleaner door by plastic pegs that were melted after installing. Is that true?
How do I remove the stock panel? Drill out the pegs? Heat them?
After installing the new panel, do I melt the pegs so the cover stays put?
