    Lowering link

    by dlee » Wed Apr 10, 2013 6:14 am

I just purchased a lowering link from Slingshot Racing in Calif, anyone ever use one of these on there 450x?

I am 5'8 and would like to stand flat footed on my 450x, don't really want to lower the fork tubes

I have one on my 450X. Actual drop was more like 3/4" not the 1" claimed. I lowered the fork tubes in the triple clamps to keep the same geometry. Works great !

ive ran a kouba link on my 450r along with a taller bar riser so I could push my forks up in my triple clamps about 3/4". lowered my height by close to 2" im 5'6" and that helped me out a lot.

Dont know if your still having the lowering issue , but i have a #4 Kouba Link on my 450X , it lowers 1.75 in. you have to set your sag at about 80-85 , and raise your forks in the tree's to 6mm above the clamp , and the bike will be balanced front to rear, and you will have no issues , if you dont raise the forks the bike will be unbalanced and not turn worth a crap and will just not handle right, trust me i tried it and you will be very unhappy if you dont move the forks to keep the bike balanced front to rear , i also got a new Seat Foam and then cut a step in it , that way its about 1/2" lower and i have some real cushy foam at the rear when i need it , i am 5'10" but i only have a 32 inseam , all my height is in my body , so i have the same tip-toe issue , the link helps tremendously when trail riding , especially on switchbacks !

In the second pic you can see how far the forks are up in the clamps

No Problem , and Thanks , as far as the frame , sand with 600 wet/dry paper , then use Mothers Polish and a lot of elbow grease , i actually used a small 4" Air Buffer , but it can be done by hand , i did the frame and the swingarm and Triple Clamps
