I have the honor of bringing this old Yammi back from the dead. The bike belongs to my bro in law, and he asked me for my help getting his bike back to running condition. Lucky me!

The bike won't start, the air filter fell apart when I took it out, the chain roller cracked in half from just rolling the bike, and the clutch cable snapped when I pulled the clutch in. The bike looks way better than it really is. Wish me luck!!
Here are a few pics.
2001 was the last time the bike was fired up.
My bro in law must be one of the early pioneers of the red ano'd skid plate. What do you think Doug?

LOL, I actually picked out the "Doug Plate" before I read your comment. As with all projects I'd recommend a good pressure wash before hand, makes the job a ton more enjoyable when your not covered in grease. What ever snaps off from the pressure of the water needed to be replaced anyways!!

Oh, and don't forget eBay for parts, that's where I found a lot of old 70's Husky stuff.
Does that thing have Pastrana bars?

I'd go easy with the pressure washer.
Good luck Ernie. Put some CRFsOnly sticker on that when you're done.. Just to razz your Bro in Law.

My bro in law had a 350 and a few IT's like that. For the time they were great bikes. Rode kennedy meadows my first time on one of thoese after my KDX 200 took a dump.

Smash, That's funny you said that, at first glance it looks like it.

Great idea! I'm sure he'll love that.

Picked up some goodies today.....New clutch cable, air filter, oil filter, new chain (jew boy didn't want to spring for sprockets) I warned him to no avail, a new set of grips, some Honda oil

, and new chain rollers.
Sounds like a good start to me. I'm sure it's just the beginning though! This thing has 2 carbs....Maybe a dual JD kit is in order?

Ernie,
I've restored several bikes and the single most important thing to do is make sure the fuel system is clean. That included the tank, petcock and carb. One of my Trail 70's had so much gunk from evaporated gas that the entire carb had to be replaced.
Good luck I've met some great people restoring bikes and had fun doing it.

Top Cat, I cleaned the tank out tonight. To my surprise, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The petcock was frozen solid! I got it loosened up and it's now working pretty good. I'm off tomorrow, so I'll tackle the carbs. Hopefully they aren't too gunked up. I'm sure by the time I'm done, I'll have taken the whole bike apart, lubed everything, and put it back together. Yee Haw!

If the carbs are real bad the easiest thing to do is buy a can of parts dip/cleaner and soak the parts for a few days. Kragen/Checkers is the only place I know that sells it anymore and only in one gallon cans.

Thanks Smash, I'm sure I'll be needing some of that.

That looks like a 1986 or 87 XT 350 ! , if it is some parts are still available, thru
http://www.worldofpowersports.com/
I have a speedo from the above bike i mentioned (new from that site) on my 450X
so u can still find new parts for it if needed ! , though certian parts may have been discontinued but they will be listed if they are no longer available !
They are decent bikes for dual sporting .
