    Dumont New Years Pics

    by Smash » Tue Jan 02, 2007 8:49 pm

Just a few pics of New Years out at Dumont. Had a blast, not a whole lot of people, some good riding in the buggy and on the bike. Highlight of the weekend for me... SOBE BOMBS, I went 4 for 6. Not too bad considering my first time, thanks for the recipe Nowazzu.

Night riding in the buggy is fun......it's a couple hundred feet down step dunes to the left and right at the top of comp hill.

Nice!!! Doesn't look like it was very crowded, seems like whenever I go there it is a just a sea of humanity and other oddities.

That's it? That was the crowd over New Years? Damn, the rangers must be cracking heads out there. No pics of the Sobe bomb?

Saudi Arabia doesnt' have nearly as many hills, take my word for it, that place is flat sand!

As for the crowd, these pics were taken Monday, but I must say it was pretty dead. I can't remember when it's been so dead out there. Comp hill was only two rows deep and very spaced apart, only a couple people on the hill at a time at night. Some nice long runs with no traffic. It was awesome. Monday the wind did a nice job of smoothing the sand out. I had to head back to work, but today was supposedly unreal (what kind of friends stay an extra day without you!).

Smash, Great pics! I have a lot of memories of that place. When I lived in Vegas, we used to go there all the time. Did you ride the X out there? If so, did you run with or without a paddle? I'm curious if the X has the balls to pull the sand hills without a paddle. I've ridden a CR500 out there without a padde and had no probs at all. Of course, with a paddle is the best.

Oh the X can do it but I hate it. I prefer a paddle when it comes to deep stuff like out there. The X will pull any hill out there in 3rd all the way to the top without a problem. And there is some pretty steep stuff. Most of the riding I do is in 4th and 3rd, occasionally 5th gear on the bigger bowls or the whoop sections along the back.

I went out for the day on Friday and rode my 05 250X with a six paddle and it went everywhere the 450s went and just about as fast……….then again I only weigh 140lbs and the other guys had about 60 to 100 pounds on me.
