    El Golfo ride report

    by RottenRob » Mon Jan 01, 2007 11:11 am

First day we head to the dunes and it was amazing.
    Image

While we are out there we see a big sand storm heading our way and we decide we should head back.

Big wind storm hits and blows a piece of metal siding into my RV at the beach, I was not pleased but the damage is not to bad. The next day we decide to stick to the beach. First stop the light house where the kids had fun jumping. Here is a short video:

Riding down the beach is one of my favorite things to do:

After riding about 25 miles down the beach we find a small set of powdery dunes and the kids have fun jumping.

Friday our final day was incredible we head back to the dunes and have the ride of our lives.

This is from the top of a monster dune. The size and scope of these dunes is so much bigger than Glamis or Dumont. These pictures just don't do it justice.

Here is a video of Andreas riding the ridge.

After an epic day of riding it is always nice to ride up the beach to your favorite watering hole, Las Gaviatos or the Seagulls for the gringos.

Now Mexico just wouldn't be Mexico without letting the kids build a gasoline trail channel to light the fire now would it

Good stuff! I love the dunes there. Did you find any canyon washes to ride? Those are a blast too. High speed, winding canyons for miles. The best part is there is rarely anyone there.

Yup, total blast!!!! We did not see one person out there. Amazing and spooky at the same time. Now the beach you run into a few people but not many. We came across a cross out in the middle of nowhere and the day the guy died happened to be Andrea's birthday. That freaked the kids out.

About 8 hours with no traffic or border hassles. Once you get to Yuma AZ you have another 80-90 miles to go. It is an equivalant drive, time wise, to San Felipe if you have ever done that one. We are going next year the week after Christmas, mark your calendars you will not be disappointed.
