Hey guy's, I need some advice. After cleaning my air filter last week & used Notoil on it. I'm having a problem with it stalling & fouling the plug. I haven't changed a thing anywhere else. It will run for a little while then it backfires & pops on decel, (which it never did before). I have the JD jet kit installed (red needle 3rd clip, 165main, stock pilot, fuel screw at 1 1/8 now. It was at 1 1/4 before all this, thought it would help. Any ideas

double check the installation of the filter.....have a gap and a lean mix perhaps. thats what i'd check first but when it comes down to it i dont know shiznit

Check the following:

Fouled plug- What does the plug look like? If it is black and sooty, that would indicate a rich condition. If this is the case, check to assure that you did not over oil your filter.This will restrict alrflow, causing a rich mixture, which could lead to a fouled plug.

OR- Move your needle to the 4th position. If your filter was filthy before, a clean filter will let more air in, promoting a lean condition. Unless you are at quite a high altitude, I would recommend the needle in the 4th slot. On my bike, the 4th slot is good from 0-10,000 ft.
Try your fuel screw at 1-1/4 again.

I am not a "pro", this is based upon my experience FWIW. Hope it helps.

Thanks guy's, yes the plug was black & sooty. I just went & bought a new filter & cleaned the plug ( it was brand new last night). She runs for now, so we'll see. I'll put the fuel screw back at 1 1/4 turns also. I'll keep you posted on how she runs.

It sounds like , if it ran great before anyway, that maybe you had way too much oil in the filter, because that will sure make it too rich. Doug

Get some latex gloves. Take the filter out and squeeze the crap out of it. Put it back in.

PRESTO!

No-Toil is good stuff, but you can put too much on of anything. Be sure to wring it out well as Cheezeburger says. You also have to let it dry properly.

Don't listen to Dust Devil, he takes kick-backs from Maxima and others!

That red needle should be in the 4th clip for almost all conditions.

Stock filter is gone... I did try to wring it out and let it dry, but it's too thick. As far as my clip, it's on the 4th position, (my bad). Seems to run fine now We'll see, I'll keep you posted, if there are any other problems
