How difficult is getting a plate in OR? Do you know the requirements? Does owning a piece of vacant land qualify me to plate in OR? I realize it is very doubtful but the post about plating in Florida gor me wondering. Several of my buddies run Idaho plates and I could possibly go that route if I ever get more serious about getting one.

Unfortunately they watch very closely in Oregon regarding residency. Since our licensing fees are next to nothing, and we do not pay sales tax, Oregon is quite appealing... until you pay property tax!!

I have not seen a lot of plated off-road bikes, but then again, the weather is so bad here most of the time that it is hardly worth it! (I am just bitter because it finally cleared up... and was 28 degrees this morning!). They require a copy of you Oregon drivers license, and a utility bill with a matching address in order to register a vehicle.... you will also get hassled in California by the CHP's.

answered that! Thanks, kind of what I expected. Not sure how my buddy in Idaho plates so many bikes ... may have to look into that. I really don't have any desire to ride street, but love the idea of not worrying about some of the areas (Arrowhead/Big Bear for example) that connect via street legal required jeep trails or riding into Johanesburg or Randsburg. Not that it stops me now
Thanks for the info

Just tried last week to get my 450x and 250x plated and I live here. Oregon DMV in the last few mos has quit issuing plates for off road bikes unless you have a letter from mfg stating that bike meets DOT and Emission standards and was mfg as a street legal MC which your not going to get. The new Orange bikes are starting to look good. Geno

Welcome Geno! We will have to do John's Peak sometime... and of course Prospect when it opens again. hkepuk lives in Medford and we get together and ride fairly often.
