    Service Manuals

    by Blackbird_Pilot » Wed Dec 13, 2006 9:47 am

What is everyones take on service manuals. I have a clymer for my 450. I have the Honda service manual for my sportbike or as some come to call it, my ca-ca-ca Compton Cruiser! The Honda manual seems more in depth than the clymer. Is that just the sportbike to dirtbike difference? What does everyone like the best?

I second that. Anything else is a poor-quality ripoff of the Honda manual. None of the other manuals (for anything, really) ever add any value. The funniest thing is when you see mistakes in an OE manual also show up in the copycat manuals.

I have the Honda service manual, and it's okay.
I will say that some pretty sharp cookies on this site say that really like the Clymer manual. Doug

I will only use the factory service manual myself.
The main reason is that it gives all specifics directly for the bike(no general or basic outlines). And if you,re worried about cost I got mine new in the plastic for $12.95 plus postage on ebay.

That would include me. The Honda manuals are written for the MMI techs, whereas the Clymer manual is written for you and me, plus, its for all 4 crf's. Honda manuals are model specific. i have purchased the Honda manual, with 20% off, it was still 60 something dollars. i don't even use it, in favor of the 30$ Clymer.
