2007 Ducati 1098, in Cycle World this month. 160 HP, 90 ft lbs torque, 381 lbs dry, 90 degree V-Twin Testastretta motor (no valve springs as usual). Oh my God but the price....14,995 MSRP!!!! Yes, mere mortals can afford that. Gorgeous!

Yes those new Ducs are very, very nice. Some of these sportbikes are simply beautiful works of art. . .a study of motorcycle engineering and aerodynamics. I was planning to buy a classic Monoposto 916S or 748S just to have. My riding on the highway/freeway/track days are over. My last sportbike was a tricked out '05 CBR600RR, an AMA Formula Extreme wannabe, lot's o' titanium, carbon fiber, PVM forged wheels, Galfer wave rotors, . . .etc.:
As some of you know, my CRF250X supermoto is enough for me to zip around town. . .supermoto bikes carve up the turns like no other.

Nice CBR. I still love the street, my little souped up 916 powered ST4 will have to do for now...

I'd love to get one of those but it was hard enough to keep my wife from divorcing me when I showed up with the New 450x in the bed of my truck with the other 3 bikes I had in the garage=) She already told me not to bring home the R1 I'm planning on getting this spring=)

R1's are rockets. 90 degree V-Twins are a totally different feel, combined with Ducati frame and suspension very confidence inspiring handling. If you get a chance try one, I'm hooked on them.

Ducatis are beautiful, the Italians always have that sense of style.
I love to ride on the street too, I'm with Matuchi though, we like that Teutnonic thing ! Doug
