Bought it. It's in a crate, and on it's way here... I got a killer deal on a 05, new and still in a crate... I was holding out for the 07, but when I learned there were no significant changes from the 06, or 05, and combined with the killer deal, I went for it sight unseen... It should be at the Forward Air terminal next week..

Great news on the bike bud, really great.
There's nothing as pretty as a new dirt bike, nothing.
I wish I would've had the discipline to get a couple bikes new in the crate say 20 -25 years ago and not opened them until now.
    Like a 79/80 CR250 , which I flirt with finding and buying a restored one, then maybe an 06 250R, hell I don't know.
Imagine opening up that red engined bitch after it sat sealed in a crate for 25years ! I'd enjoy every minute of cleaning the carb,
I wonder what it would bring, brand new in tthe crate ?
Brand new, I'd be a buyer at I guess up to 4500 tops, for new in crate. They were 13-1500 new I believe.
While fantasizing, I somehow found a web site for a shop that sells TOTALLY refurbished, (these look PERFECT) CBX's ! I think the one I saw was listed for about 10 thousand, and for PERFECT, that's not to bad. Man that was a hot looking bike.
Funny, the almost sensual quality Honda has had when they hit a home run. The CBX. the 79/80 red motor CR250's the 450X-to me they all represent that, sensual, out of a machine ! Doug

    Dougie -

Did you do just do that last post as an "off topic tour de force". Red Engined Bitch indeed.

Of course I voted for keep same. You know the off topic is what sucked most of us in (including me).

Heck, I have personally done searches for newbie's remembering how Dougie and r0b helped me when I was a young sarcastic wipper snapper.

    Speaking of off topic:

I don't think there is anything too racy in that, except my fantasy life is ruined!

Doug, right there with you on the CR250. I raced a 79 CR250 when I was a very young pup. The shop I worked for at the time helped me out to put some Fox Air Shox and Fox Forx on it. Awesome at the time. It was like having a factory bike. As far as I'm concerned, that bike was the first glimpse of what we ride now. The powerband was awesome; powerful AND tractable. That was the first bike I ever raced that I could go flying into a corner way to hot, or hit a jump harder than I ever had before, and the bike would (almost) always save me from my own stupidity instead of dropping me on my head.

    I raced a 79 CR250 when I was a very young pup

I'd like to relive that !
Rob had posted and I lost track of his 77 RM125.
Rob, I'll bet if I could arrange a ride for you on a new or like new 77 RM 125 you would have a blast, and not quit smiling for a week.
That's why Vintage Racing has gotten so big, those old bikes, sure they don't have the power, suspension or brakes, but they would and are big -time fun !
So 77, you'd have Barnett or one of the crew on one of those, and either stock or factory bike one of those guys on one of those old bikes ,YZ,CR,RM, whatever, they'd just destroy us even if we were on an 06 250F.
    What a humbling thought
So sure, if given the oppurtunity I'd love to ride or own a 79CR250, just for the fun and nostalgia factor. Doug

Sure I would love to ride one just for the nostalgia aspect and to see how hard we had it back in the day but go on a long ride with it, no way. My 450X has gotten me very spoiled. :D A vintage race would be fun, everyone on those old things, sounds like a blast!!!
Life's tough, but it is even tougher when you're stupid.

My first bike in the 80s was a 10 year old suzy TS. It made really easy hills hard. My buddy had a fairly modern KX. After I crashed about 10 times trying to get up this hill, he got frustrated and decided to "show me how to do it".

3 crashes later, he said "Man, you need to buy another bike, that thing is crap".

2 inches of travel - 350 lb bike, 15 hp. those were the days.
