Wow, I was a little late chiming in on this one huh? DD, That weekend just about everywhere you ride is going to be somewhat crowded. Stoney is big enough that once you leave the staging area and everyone spreads out you can ride for quite some time without running into a bunch of idiots. Usually if you ride the tight, technical, single track stuff you don't see many people. The wide trails and the fire roads will definitely be loaded with quadtards and the less skilled guys on 2 wheels. How far are you from Bakersfield? I can get there from here in 4 hours 15 mins. It's two hours from my house to Stoney. Hopefully we can put something together with you guys, that would be cool. Matuchi mentioned Cow Mtn. It also has lot's of technical single track through the woods. My neighbor knows that place like the back of his hand. Even though he's on an orange bike, he would be one hell of a tour guide if the ride ended up being at Cow. If the ride ends up in Nor Nevada, we could always do Moonrocks...I haven't been there but have heard lot's of good things about the place. I don't know if it will be a zoo on a holiday weekend though. Is there no way you could make the trip on a non holiday weekend? Ernie

PiPi is great, It's about 30 miles East of Jackson on Hwy 88. Camping is alright.
You can actually connect up to Elkins Flat and ride all the way to Placerville if you want.
I was there last Memorial Weekend and it wasn't too bad, but I went on the Sunday, there were a ton of people but hardly anyone on the trails.....too much partying on Saturday??
The trails are great, but 2-way so be careful on the blind corners. Most of the riders have good manners and use hand signals. You could easily entertain yourself for a couple days there.
Stop at the Ranger station on Silver Dr. just past the town of Buckhorn. It's the Gold Note OHV trails.
I'll be out of town otherwise I'd be happy to meet you up there.

Sounds like it's Stonyford or Clear Creek.

I game for Wherever!! If you Don't want Crowds, Then maybe Nevada Might be better on Memorial day Weekend.. Moonrocks Is is pretty big and has alot of different stuff to offer!! Plus, You can take off in to the dessert and explore some cool stuff near by...

Stoneyford is so huge!!!! Even if it is crowded there's plenty of singletrack that most of the crowd wont ride!! lots of fire roads for the beginner's and Qauds to cruz on, and there is loops off the fire roads that hook right back up to the trail. Its A very Killer place to ride!!! I've ridden there about 5 times on my dr 350 and like 3 time's on the 450X...

Heres a few pics of stoney... I think I even have a short video of Potato mtn!!!

There's the Rubicon Area into the Tahoe Basin...

It seems to me, if I remember correctly, that there's a lot of trails across the top of the Plymouth/Georgetown/Rubicon area.

    I'm jus' sayin'...

I mean, if you guys wanna ride with a fat-old-dude on a Kawi...

There's also some stuff West of Redding/Red Bluff that goes on for days...right up in the National Forrests...an area we call "Wildwood".

A Norcal CRF's ride would be pretty cool. Definitely quite a few options for locations. Although, it looks like it would be only with Norcal guys. DD was the only Socal guy that posted on this thread.

We are just letting DD do all the work of setting it up and then we will see if we can work it out! :)

Personally I am not up for heavy holiday weekends. Too many people, too much traffic. Crazies abound!
