You do like the Howie Feltersnatch one...IIRC, you blew beer out your nose on that one.

Doesn't the X's valve problems always end up being from a not properly greased airfilter seal, or just not cleaning the filter regularly ??,

That's the whole thing, there is no problem. I've only heard of one as well and it was probably the one Smash was talking about, but that's sure not a problem with the bike.
Further, there is no 'problem' with the 450R either, it's a racer, people race it, it needs valves once in a while, all the racers that are raced do.
The remarkable thing about the 450X is were just not seeing it,ever, after a whole lot of hours on these bikes.
An improperly oiled or sealed air filter ridden in fine dust, a leak on the intake boots, that kind of stuff sure can't be blamed on the bike. Doug

If the Ti valves are so bad (har har) why did Yamaha go to them this year? Both companies make great enines and they are not stupid enough to design a POS valve train.

To play devils advocate here, it was never the titanium valves on the older CRFs that had problems. It was the coating. Once that wore off, the titanium was chewed up like butter. But, like we all know, the X had no problems.

I think a good source to research the 450x valve problem would be www.snopes.com

    Ain't that the truth.
I ravaged a couple clowns over at TT concerning the subject, no profanity or anything, and the posts got deleted.
There were posts from deep thinkers such as : "I've heard of valve problems. Be careful."
Another one was a single cell organism providing sage,WISE  advice to a new owner of "Keep your valves adjusted",and his signature had "CRF-Constantly Replacing Four", I'm serious.
I offered that if he's constantly replacing four he should learn how to check them first. Doug
