I agree with what you are saying Caballo Rojo, but it still comes in kinda pricey. Unless the prices that are being tossed around here are off? Are they?
I guess if I was a total green horn maybe it wouldn't matter.

Yes Joe the prices are that high.
You can save 7-800 bucks bringing your own machine.
Not for everyone I will agree, I like the support and awesome lodging. Guess I have stayed in enough baja dives, been ripped off, too old, etc. that I dont mind it.
Try racing down there on a budget!
Its all good either way, just make a trip sometime for the baja experience.
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough.

i agree with the price being steep, but i also have buddies that have been riding there for 30 years and know the place like the back of there hand...also i live in california...so for me it's hard to justify, but if you were say in montana it think it would be the way to go plus...the no worries thing sounds great!!!!(i always carry everything and no chase, we do have a SAT phone though)

i think it all depends on the person and who the person knows...

do they want a well planned stress-free trip or a conquest? both i'm sure are great experiences

i ran into some guys from baja bound and one of riders t-boned a cow on a fire road pinned in 5th...i bet he was glad he had the chase truck

hey how do you guys group the riders properly according to skill...i've met guy that say they are 8's and you ride with em and they turn out to be 2's
    ...i hit stuff...
    rocks,trees,cactus...i don't play favorites

We (Baja Bound) had a guy hit a cow? The only time I can recall that was about 5 years ago, does that sound right? Funny thing.... the guy who hit it is a dairy farmer from CA. He was fine, so was the cow.

Regarding prices.... yes TBoss and Baja Bound are far less when you bring your own bike. We get lots (about 40%) of guys bringing their own bike and many of those are from CA.
And it's not uncommon to have dinners in the $35 per person range.
So cost is all relative really.

Damn, I find it hard to eat a $35.00 per person meal in San Francisco! What the hell are you serving in Mexico that would cost that much?

    Just askin...

i thought they were from baja bound...i could be wrong it was right by el progresso last feb. and he was on a xr400...had a ford chase truck with a custom bed full of gas cans...

anyways my point was having support for him was definately worth the price tag...

and for the $35 dinners...mexico is getting expensive...old mill we paid $50
    catavinia $35
of course that was steak, lobster, and 2-3 drinks
    ...it's worth it though

OK, steak and lobster plus drinks makes it sound more reasonable. I don't drink much and I don't usually eat that way either. I could probably do well on 1/2 of that. I like tortillas and beans.. noone else with me does... :D

    Thanks,

Usually $ 35 buys a handful of street tacos and a case of Pacificos.
