Yeah, I know what you mean dougie. BTW what kind of trail make up do you use to keep the shine down on your face while riding? I mean who wants a shiny face, riding is so sweaty! shoo!

I run the WB and it is the same design as the Flatland. It has taken some hits and keeps grinning that UOF "I may be ugly but I'm a bad-ass" grin. I notched out a quarter moon for the oil filter with my dremmel (in all about a 30 second mod).

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My preference is a well protected, hugely functional, ready for anything and I ain't worrried about scratches look. WB and Flatland fit that niche perfectly.

    Good point ! :D
Hey CB, I'm going down to the beautiful state of Tennessee first week of March, we'll see who wipes what off their noses bud :D
All I said about the Flatlands negative is that it;s ugly as hell boys, and it is.
A shovel with brackets on will do the job too, so if looks don't matter to you they don't matter.
They do to me ! Doug

Back when I was a kid we used to make them out of traffic signs :? did the job though! Never thought to use a shovel ... It would have probably been an improvement.

I have the Works Connection skid plate and think it's great. It's a little costly, but what the hey,
you only live once. See the link to CRF's only review below picture.

Some of the trails I ride on are covered with basket ball sized rocks that could really do a number on your frame.
I'm not really happy when we ride on these trails, but everyone in my riding group gets to take a turn picking what trails we ride.....................

A friend of mine simlply bolted a stock skid plate from a XR650R on top of the stock 450X and it works great. It is much quieter than the aluminum plates not to mention cheaper. I wish I had thought of that before I shelled out $75 for my skid plate.
