    1991 CR 500 wont stay idling

    good day folks I'm am having a issue with my 1991 CR 500 it was idling last fall before stripping it down to do a complete rebuild .
    the engine was not touched. it was idling this spring after i got it all together. and now its not idling i have checked the main 170 pilot 55 needle 2 clips from the top. the air screw is out 1.5 and the fuel is out 2 when i turn off my gas it will idling. plug is fine. any ideas

    The 2 stroke will start idling poorly when it is time to re ring.

    If you’re happy the rings are ok then check the float and needle and seat are doing there job. Sometimes if the pin is worn the float sticks up.

    Other than that is the idle speed high enough especially if porting has been improved.

    Great bikes we did get special road registered version here in Australia.
