So I've only just got back into motocross bikes after a few years of not riding or owning one ive brought a crf250r 2007 rid it for 3 hours and the crankshaft bearing went, bike seized up so now im looking for a complete engine rebuild kit but not sure what to go for honda have quoted me £927 for a complete kit with a crankshaft and top end but im finding kits on eBay for half of that so my question is which kit is the most reliable ive heard good and bad stuff about wiseco and other popular brands but from what i read the crankshafts aren't as good quality on the wiseco kits but ive read that hot rods cranks are decent so im thinking to get a wiseco top end kit and a hot rods bottom end kit. But what are the best quality rebuild kits thses days to go for.

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

To be honest OEM is the most reliable ... but unfortunately aftermarket is more cost friendly .... I know when I replace my piston in my 20 450R I am going OEM , simply for the fact that it has been trouble free , so why not replace it with the same thing , plus I know it will be a exact fit ...... my other choice on piston would be JE ... but undecided on crank , etc. .

As far as actual "Kits" go , the Wiseco Garage Buddy complete kit (Wiseco Part#:PWR143-100 ) is a good deal and pretty much gives you everything you need to rebuild , minus head and valve components ( I think you get Valve Guide Seals with it) they are about $600.00 -$700.00 U.S. depending on where you get them , as far as crank goes , I have seen and heard great and not so great things about both Wiseco and Hot Rods cranks ..... maybe go OEM on the crank and get the rest Wiseco ?? :-k .... Hope that helps ... ;) 8-[
