    hotcams identification

    by HondaRacingHolland » Fri Aug 27, 2021 11:58 am

    Hi everyone,

Im new here on the forum, im using a Crf450r 2009-2012 engine and im from the Netherlands looking for help. I Recently bought a used Hotcams that is in mint condition the previous owner did not know what stage it was, on the Cam it says: Hotcams SF124 2799.
Maybe anyone on this forum knows what type it is by the Numbers ?

I have send a e-mail to Hotcams but whitout respons, local shop did not had the answer either.

My guess it is a stage 2 but since it came with cases , 480 barrel and other small parts it might be a stage 3..

    Thanks!

Hi HondaRacingHolland and welcome to the site.

I tend to believe that is a casting number and not a part number as it doesn't look like a Hotcams part number. At least not what is used in Australia.

Is the number cast or stamped?

Judging by the #124 and the following # beginning with 2 , I am going to say it is a Stage 2 , which would be HotCams part # 1124-2 , since yours is a 124 2799 , I would say that coincides with the part number area you are seeing ......

Thanks Jim that clears things up, now my following question.
In a previous post you Said the 1124-2 is for the 09’ Does it also fit the 2010/2011 models?

I am guessing that since there is a difference in Stage 1 , 2 , and 3 part # for 10 , 11 , 12 , I am thinking they changed the decompressor system on those years , as I seem to recall there being issues with it in 09 , and they also changed around the valve sizes ... so I am thinking they don't interchange , or at least not all the years , I am sure the heads will bolt on , but I would guess you would have to use all the components to match the given years , as the Honda Service Manual I have goes from 09-11 , but not 12 , so there must be at least a significant difference with it compared to the 09,10,11 ... but I am not positive .... HotCams would have the insight to those specifics , it seems All Balls Racing Group is in control of HotCams , so you might contact them directly for the specifics to that , as that is beyond my insight , and ask them if they do interchange and if so is anything special needed , as like I mentioned , Tower , etc. as there is usually a reason behind it https://www.allballsracinggroup.com/hot-cams
