    Crf450r 2014 kickstart problem.

Hey there, first of all thanks for your time.
Problem: only my mechanic can kickstart my bike, I did a top-end rebuild, valves, piston and rings.
The bike works perfect when run but I have to jumpstart it.

I am a big man and even when I stand on the kickstart it wont move, my mechanic is a small person much weaker than me and first kick he runs the bike.

I know how to kick start a bike, I did it for friends and my father crf450r 2013.

The mechanic also did for my dad fully rebuild of the engine and its works fine.

Please help because no one finding the problem even neighbours tried no one could kickstart the bike.

    Thanks ahead.

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

It is sounding like a Decompressor issue to me , the Decompressor is located on the camshaft , there is a spring loaded counterweight as well as a pin on the cam itself that pushes open a exhaust valve slightly allowing the compression to lower enough to kick the engine over , once the engine fires and the RPM's pick up the counterweight keeps the pin from sticking out and you have full compression .... this sounds to be the most logical issue , however I do not know what is actually wrong with yours , you will have to (or have the mechanic troubleshoot it.... however I would think the mechanic if he works on Honda's would be aware of this , so not sure why he has not located the issue , or if it is a intermittent issue , so one time it starts fine , the next 3 it does not , or something along those lines .... but regardless , you should look at the Decompressor system in its entirety and see if something is sticking , or broken ....

When you kick over the engine slowly (very slowly) , you should hear a click , click , click ,as the engine does each revolution , so each time the engine turns a complete cycle you should hear a click as the Decompressor resets , if you are not hearing that , it would indicate the Decompressor is not actuating ...
