Bad TPS??

Hi Guys,

been having carb issues and have checked my TPS as per the Service manual.

I'm getting a variable response from the blue and yellow wires, when throttle is opened or closed (this is correct as per service manual)

I was getting no reading from the blue and black wires until I loosened the screw, now it has a reading of 4.7k Ohms no matter how much its moved, even removed it from the carb but still got the same reading.
Am I right in thinking this should alter slightly depending on small movements?

cheers
jay

Yes it is just a small micro potentiometer. From what you described it does not sound as it is functioning properly. Could be from corrosion or dirt not allowing a good contact on the resistance scale internally. Could be fault in the wires.
You do not have to use it - the bike will run fine without it and many people remove them for what some feel is better and more reliable performance.
