Hi guys. Quite enjoying this forum. Information is brilliant. I have just rebuild my 2009 crf250x. Bike is stock standard. I have recently purchased a stripped crf250r with the intention of rebuilding it. Will then have the best of both worlds. Have been reading alot on guys using parts from the crf250r in the 250x model. Anyone have any info on what they change and what performace difference it gets? The 250r has loads of performance parts on it.

Didn't see your post, so sorry for the delayed response.
The X cam is quite mild. The R cam gives you more low end, top end, and mid range. You can gain 5 hp just with a cam change. There really isn't a down side. The bike isn't more of a handful, or less drivable. A used R cam can be had for $40-80.

My 250X has '05 R cam, R header, R exhaust with PMB endcap with spark arrestor and pink wire cut. Airbox fully opened and rejetted. When my intake valves closed at about 180hrs I replaced with Knibblewhite stainless and put in a new higher compression piston/rings and replaced cam chain. My bike rips and sounds great, although my 15yr old occasionally gets dirty looks when he rides around the neighborhood
