Hi guys. I ride a 2009 crf250x. Well, had it 3 months and have ridden it once. Been a nightmare of a bike. Motor had a rattle in the low rpm. Replaced timing chain. Bike ran for 30 seconds and cut out. Thats it. Will not start. I noticed 1 inlet valve was tight . could not put a smaller shim. So decided to rebuild the motor. Kibble white valves, guides, springs, the whole lot. Did piston and rings too. Barrel was still good. Nothing broke to actually cause any damage. New spark plug. Fresh fuel. Carb has been cleaned and serviced. 45 pilot, 160 main jet. Any ideas?

You need to test the Stator and make sure everything is working with it , usually when the Stators go , they give dying issues like that then quit altogether ... Do you have a Service or Owners Manual for the specs ??

Thanks for the reply. I have not tested the stator coil at all. Will test that. I do have the workshop manual at home so will go through it and check. I did notice though my sparkplug is very dry. Convinced its not getting fuel. Seems to me my valves are passing. Perhaps thats why its not getting fuel.

Dump a spoonful of fuel down the plug hole and see if it wants to start. If it does go back and check the carby is getting fuel and letting it through. Your valves will only be a starting problem if not opening or not sealing when closed.
Assume your valve clearances are correct and valve timing spot on.
