Crf250 won't start, but ran fine all day. Washed and put away

Took my bike to track the other day, ran all day on and off just fine.
Took it home and washed it, and put in garage. Couldn't get it to start after that. And still won't start a week later.
I've checked air filter for water soaking from washing it, drained carb in case I got any water in it, I've checked for spark.

Now I'm leaning towards valves being out of adjustment but I don't think they would run fine all day then just boom, no start.

I pulled valve cover and checked clearance (first time I've done this before on any bike) I put a .009 under exhaust valve and it fits and moves with friction on it. Tried a .004 on intake, but it kept bending rather than squeezing under the cam.
I did get it in there by rotating the cam some to help wiggle it in. I think it may be closer to a .003 but my gauges only go down to .004.

My question is how tight do the valves have to be before the bike won't start?

Anything else that would cause this? I'm really annoyed with it lol

I see bikes starting and running fine with .002 intake. That's not the same as saying that they should be left there, but the bike will run.

I set mine at .0045 I and .009 E anyway. it is like adding slightly more lift and duration, and sets the valves down more gently. The Honda spec is a little conservative.

Hmm, so you don't think if it ran fine all day until I shut it off and brought it home that it's a valve issue?
What else could be the cause?
I do believe I got some water in exhaust when I washed it that day, not like intentional amount, but enough that there seems to be a slight milky color to the oil.

Should I try to pop start it? Maybe it's just being stubborn since I washed it and put it away without running it after?
It literally started fine that whole day just like it always does. That's what's got me so lost
