Hi all,

I'm currently riding a 2008 Honda CRF250r and my girlfriend is on 2006 Honda CRF230. My question is: Can we use the same engine oil in both bikes? This will ease maintenance cost and time.

The CRF250r uses SAE 10W-30 and (according to the service manual) the CRF230 can use anything from a SAE 20W-50 to a 10W-30 dependent on the temperature range.

I'm based in South Africa and cold winter mornings, when riding typically starts, is about 15C and warm summers days could range to 36+C.

Any ideas?

Regards

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

As long as the oil is a API Service Classification of "SG" , which seems to be required of both bikes , you should be fine , that is the only classification i see to be concerned about with the exception of it meeting the JASO-MA requirements for a Wet Clutch , which i would guess your oil is , ....so basically , you should be fine using the same oil for both bikes......... ;)
