    no timing mark flywheel

    by momuzik » Tue Mar 28, 2017 12:44 pm

working on a 04 250x and installed a new cam..however there in no timing marks on the flywheel.

is there another way to know if flywheel timing is correct, other than ensuring that both the crank gear and cam gear are aligned?

normally i use all 3 marks to set timing- flywheel, cam gear, and crankshaft gear

On the 250X all you need to align is the punch mark on the Primary Drive Gear (on the right round inspection plug) and the Cam Sprocket Notches ,(making sure they are both level with the head) , just make sure the valves are free (intake and exhaust) and you should be at TDC Compression Stroke when the dots are aligned on the Drive Gear ...that's all there is to it ... ;)
