    CRF250r running issue

    by Danking12 » Sun Nov 30, 2014 3:57 am

    Hi all,

I have a crf 250r 2007 and I'm having some trouble getting it to run right.

I recently found a tiny piece of spring on my stator (looks quite like a spring off the back of an oil seal) since then it hasn't run correctly.

I've checked timing, clearances, plug and carb etc and it still starts 1st or 2nd kick.

At idle it gets very hot very quickly, also if I put the choke on it raises the rpm massively compared to what it used to. The throttle seems to hang slightly too.

I can only imagine the small piece of spring is off a crank seal. I know that crankcase pressure is very important with 2 strokes, but how important is it with my 4 stroke engine? Is this my problem?

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Thanks,

    Dan

I had the same issue with finding a spring on flywheel/stator side. Indeed it was crank seal. You should be able to pull flywheel (make sure you use the correct puller) and see the seal.

Once I realized it was crank seal I talked myself into a complete rebuild.... I am sooooo glad I did entire rebuild. My bike was ticking time bomb

    Good luck
