Hello everyone,

I just bought a 2012 CRF450R yesterday. In great physical and cosmetic condition.

Checked the fluids and rode the bike. After riding for 20 minutes the radiator overflow hose started dropping out quite a git of fluid that was smoking hot. I turned the bike off and it of course stopped. The fluid was nice and green, as though it appeared to be pretty fresh fluid.

Any solutions? Also, I just bought this bike so I plan on changing every fluid. Any recommendations would be great! Anything I should be looking for on the bike?

Thanks

Were you riding the bike slow ??

Did you check the coolant level at any time before the ride ?? (minutes, hours, days, months?)

Once you topped it off with coolant , did you ride it again and did it puke fluid again ??

If after topping off and riding and it puked again , i would guess the radiator cap was bad

If topping off and riding and it did NOT puke fluid again , then i would say the coolant level was just low , as a part of riding the radiator will overflow some (usually right after a hard ride) , you should check the coolant level as part of every Pre-Ride checklist

Also if you were riding in warmer weather(90f or higher) all my crfs have done this even new off the showroom floor. I am in Phoenix and the only cure is to flush the coolant out with distilled water and replace with Engine Ice. Unless of course you want to dump some money into aftermarket fans, radiators, water pump etc. The engine ice has always worked for me though, unless your jetted way to lean.
