    05 250R Motor Problem

    by Hondamx479 » Thu Jul 31, 2014 8:54 am

How's it going everyone! I'm new to the forum and need a little bit of help.

I was going through a whoop section and shifted down into second before a tight corner. As soon as I shifted down the bike stalled so I popped the clutch to bump start again and it died completely. I could smell antifreeze but none was coming out of the overflow. One of my buddies said that he did see a large cloud of white smoke come out of the exhaust. I recently cleaned the carb and put a brand new park plug in it. It has had a problem the last couple of times when riding when I was in the lower RPM's in a corner it would stall.

So my question is what do you guys think is wrong. I'm thinking possibly blown head gasket, fried piston rings, grenadeed piston?

I don't have an hour meter but my guess for internal pars are
    (stock) bottom end 150+ hours
    Piston 30-50 hours
    valves and sprigs 30-50 hours

it doesn't hurt to tear it down and see, new set of gaskets at the least. also you can blow a head gasket and not see any signs on the outside. look at your oil, if its chocolate milk looking or even just cloudy white swirly looking that's your sign. now if you don't know much about motors and how to build them I would send it to a shop you trust.
