almost every time I meet someone new the very same thing happens
"how do you like your YZ?" or "that is the WR250, right?" or with the two Xs side by side they ask the Bear about his CRF and ignore me
even swapped bikes with an XR250 rider because I wanted to refresh my memory and after 10 miles back on the trailhead that dude really asked me if he had been riding a YZ400 or 426

"but it says Yamaha"
so?
if I take a sharpie and write 'Hoover' on your seat does that make your bike a vacume cleaner?

do Yamahas have white shrouts and side panels, and black rear fenders?

actually, i think you may have hit on something that yamaha should seriously consider...resell honda products with blue plastics! think of the savings yamaha could realize by eliminating their R&D costs...plus, apparently no one would even notice it was a honda. you're brilliant ev!

my Question is WHY???? Why would you put that on your bike? To me its like buying a new corvette and spray painting ford down the side. Just doesnt make since.

used to wear one green and one purple, no one ever noticed
same with my old Fox boots, had two pairs and one each gave up on me
so for the rest of the season I wore one blue/black and one blue/white, no one noticed

this all does not answer my question on why people, self-appointed dirt bike specialits, do not see a Honda, only because it is blue

The reason most people don't see a honda, when its blue is... Honda and red have become synonymous.
Much like Suzuki and Yamaha were always the yellow bikes (before Yamaha ran out of yellow paint, and got a deal on blue paint).
The Yamaha on the seat, does tend to make one wonder , at first glance, if you happen to have some sort of Yamaha works bike, because it doesnt look like a Yamaha other than that..
Of course upon closer inspection, they would see the powerplant is Honda, and would answer their own questions.
People tend to ask first, and do their own research later.
Easier to ask and get an answer, than it is to actually study the object and try to figure out what it is on their own.

it's true...they have branded the color red and it means honda. i remember the day when that wasn't the case. in fact, when i was a kid my uncle had a stable full of yamaha's and they were yellow, blue, and green...all from the same year.!

I don't think it is the color as much as it is the BOLD YAMAHA writing on the seat. Why didn't you buy a yamaha in the first place? Not saying what you did is wrong, just wondering. Personally from the pic, I new it was a honda (can't miss that alum. frame) right away. the seat is what made me take second look.
By the way nice red helmet. (just kidding)

been there, done that, but back then TTs were red/white so the 350 got plastic and seatcover, the 600 even got a frame-paint job, the TDR250 was blue/yellow and stayed unchanged

Your not a fan of yamahas eather? I know there good bikes but I dont like them at all.

had a few Yammies,
disliked my very trick XT500, the TR1 was great to deflate BMW GS egos, but not a good bike for sure,
I liked my TT600 and PT603 but back then I would not know better
absolutely disliked both my TT350s, can not even say why, nothing wrong with the bikes, must have been me
loved the TDR250, but she is an absolutely no-go off road, even tho she was sold as 'dual sport'

when searching for a used backup bike this year, the only Yamaha I looked at was a 12 year old WR200
