my dear spouse prefers bug-bruising over bike-washing and so for us Saturdays are off-, Sundays on-road,
normally
on-road we ride SV650 + FZ6
we both dislike riding with our feet in front of our rear
how about your secret blacktop-love?

ev...good question. i finally had to give up the blacktop riding for legal and safety reasons. unfortunately, i didn't have the self-control to stay off the throttle. the good part about the dirt is there's usually no police!
ken
on or off

It's off road only for me...I might get a sport bike in the future but for now I just play in the dirt.

My current streetbike is a '97 CBR 900 RR (the black one with the red flames) although I have had a really hard time keeping my eyes off the new CBR 1000. After checking cash situation and the insurance situation, I decided I could afford the bike but wasn't willing to pay the steep insurance again ($2200 a year! That's just criminal!). So, I bought a CRF 450 instead - lucky me

I love both. Tho I haven't really been into the dirt scene for very long now. I am really looking foreward to logging some major off-road hours!
Current bike- YSR50 (with too much aftermarket stuff to list) - I can't help myself... I love the little bikes!

I've always ridden both, but until early 2001, I feel pretty sure I accumulated more dirt bike hours than street bike miles!
But while I was on Medical Vacation from dirt bikes (heart problems, not injury), I bought a new 2001 Honda GL1800 Gold WIng and have put about 36,000 miles on it since. Then in early 2002 I bought a new Kawasaki 1500cc V-Twin "Mean Streak" (pretty bike), but came to hate the typical V-Twin power (or lack thereof) and cruiser riding position, so four months later I traded it for a new Kawasaki ZRX1200 (the 120 HP standard, not the 180 HP sportbike). I love the power and all, but I still generally prefer the Gold WIng, so now the Kawasaki 1200 is for sale with less than 2000 miles on it.
I've had about 30 bikes over the years, and all but 5 or 6 wore knobbies.

I ride both on and off road. I try to ride my 03 cbr954rr to work every day in the summer. We have nice curvy roads here in the Black Hills of SD. I ride an 04 crf450 when ever I can but don't seem to be able to get out much. Decent riding areas are few and far between here. I don't care much for fire trail riding.

dnold...i'm surprised to hear that 'decent riding areas are few and far between here' i guess i just picture SD having lots of off-road trails and such. why aren't there more riding areas?

when riding in the black hills you are suposed to stick to the fire roads. They are trying to shut off alot of the hills to motorized vehicles, saying be are causeing erosion and running over pretty flowers and crap like that. I like jumping and riding on more of an organized track anyway.

1985, December the 13th and it was a friday, No helmet law, Drunk driver in a truck, Stupid kid on a Honda Shadow. Drunk runs stop sign, Stupid kid has less then 10 feet to react at 70mph. Stupid kid goes through shell and window of truck with face and upper torso, Kid never hits ground, he walks over to sidewalk and sits down. Pain hits about then. 1st the knee, then the ankle, then the left hand, then the scrape on his thick Irish skull, then the firey burning agony of the jewels being ripped in half, yes tore up. I totalled the truck with my body, but that was pretty much the end of the street for me. Now when i crash it is my own dang fault.
