    Improvements for stock CRF70F?

    by Zhack » Thu Mar 30, 2006 7:26 pm

My son is riding a stock CRF70F. I know from doing CCC mods and rejetting my 250X that a lot of performance and smooth operation can be had from a few simple "tweaks" to a stock bike which is usually WAYYYYYYYY to lean and choked up (intake AND exhaust).

So..... what is the standard tweaking for the 70F to get it to run "right". I imagine that "airbox" with the TINY intake has got to go.....what else?

Do you need to rejet these little critters to get them to run right?

    Thanks.

Great questions. My baby just moved off his 50 to the 70 as the bidder one got a new 80. So I’m not yet interested in making it any faster at this point but no doubt will be in the future.
I guess we can take cues from the 50 lads that run the pod filters drilling out the baffles and installing bigger jets.
But I’m unsure of a good starting point. I’d like to hear ideas as well.

well, not much action here so I'll answer my own posts.

    I went to www.50mods.com

Great site. I did the airbox, spark arrestor and timing advance mods. Now I'm wondering about jetting changes or carb settings. I've definitely leaned the bike out over stock with the added airflow.

How do I adjust the carb?

There is no throttle slide/needle jet scenario here. What are the possible adjustments on this little carb? I see an idle screw and another close beside it (to the left when viewed from left of bike). Is that a fuel screw? I assume there's a main jet in there somewhere too.

    Can somebody help me here?
