    CRF50 rough idle

    by starkd » Wed Mar 05, 2014 8:49 pm

Recently converted my 2007 CRF50 from 88cc BBR kit back to the stock setup. After reassembling the idle will race sporadically and every time throttle is applied the RPM comes down very slowly as if the throttle is sticking. I've lubed the throttle cable and removed the throttle valve no less than a half dozen times. Set the mixture to 1.5 turns out per the stock setting. All jets are stock. Carb is stock and so is rest of bike at this point. Ideas?

it sounds like the jetting is off, just out of curiosity though are you sure the needle has the retainer down flat against the bottom of the slide?

Hows the float needle looking. Can you get it to come down at all by blips of the throttle or tapping the carb bowl with a screwdriver?

By the way don't all of these do this to some extent stock? Mine did until I removed the stock air filter and rejetted.

Hey I'm new to the site and I'm having the same issue with my daughters 70. The bike sat for a couple of years before I got it for her. I emptied the tank and cleaned the carb and the jets. The bike runs great but the idle seems to have a mind of its own. It will race too high. Then slow down. Just wondering if you resolved the issue or not. Thanks
