White smoke from exhaust on new to me 2004 crf50f

I bought my son this used 2004 CRF250F. Mods that I can tell it has are protaper bar kit and UNI filter.
It has a bit of white smoke on take-off and if he is at low-throttle.
I cleaned the air filter to make sure it wasn't oil from the filter. I changed the oil and plug, just because the bike is new to me.
It still persists. Do I need to change the rings?(I have never done that before). Is there a walk through?
How much smoke is troublesome, as can I get through the summer riding and do the fix in the winter?
