hello all,

found this forum after buying my son a 2005 CRF50 today for his 7th birthday.

I've been a Honda four stroke single guy since my first bike,
a 1983 Honda XL250, bought a new XR250L in 1993 & currently
ride a 1972 XL250 (see photo below)

That's why it had to be a Honda XR for my sons first bike.
Problem is that he's small for his age & even the 50 is a bit much for him.
I've searched around & found plenty of ways to raise the bike, but
nothing to lower it.
one problem is the previous owner installed a very nice but 10.5"
aftermarket shock. Going to look for a used original 9" one but still don't think it'll be enough.
I've even thought about removing the shock altogether & making it a temporary hardtail to get the seat hight down.

Anyway, here's a picture of my XL, I'll post a photo of both bikes together when I get one.

welcome to CRF's Only! great looking bike! dirty the way a bike should be. ;-) i don't know of any 50 lowering products. best i can recommend is shave the seat foam down.

again, welcome.

Here's a little update photo with my son & the two bikes.

Originally I didn't want to use training wheels.
But since he couldn't touch the ground & there's no good way to lower the CRF50 I tried them.

Felt real weird & unstable to me,but I'm used to only two wheels :~)
He was a bit scared at first,so I turned the throttle screw all the way down. He did about four small circles in the backyard & he was done.
Took a week later before he was ready to get back on.
Started small again in the backyard.
After a bit he was doing faster laps around the house & now he's blasting around an open field with the throttle screw half way out.
Can't get him off it!
