Honda 50 Model and Carb questions

    by Codeman00 » Mon May 30, 2011 2:50 pm

My Dad just bought my nephew a 1997 Honda 50 and I have a few questions. One reason I don't have some of the answers is that bike is about 2 hrs away.

    1) Its a 1997 model...white with a red stock seat. It has 3 gears, no clutch and looks like the new CRF50F models...just not as an older style. Is this a CRF model? The seat says "50R". Although all I can ever find any information on a 50R. Maybe its an XR? I'm not sure...I don't know the history of what Honda made in 1997.

    2) What is the weight of this bike? (which will probably be easier for me to look up now once I know the model)

    3) Here is the carb. I know the lower screw is the fuel drain screw. What do the other two screws do?

Concur this is an XR. They didn't start calling them CRF until a few years later, but same bike so you are in the right place.

    3) The top screw is the idle speed adjustment. Middle screw is Fuel to Air mix. Bottom screw is float bowl drain.
