    CRF70 bottoming out

    by dereck » Sun Oct 23, 2005 6:54 pm

My Son is 65lbs, and is 'going off' on his CRF70.He is making it snort! But he is at the point where he is jumping and bottoming out his back shock on his landings. I think it is stopping him from progressing on his jumps. Anyone can recommend an after market back shock for the 70? is there such a thing?

    thanks,
    Dereck.

There are many to chose from because of the CRF50. Most of the mods expand the capabilities to similar or better than the 70.

As a result there are great shocks to be had a very reasonable prices, as the volume of sales on these is still high.

    Have a look. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AMR-REAR ... 7587QQrdZ1

Another route is to just replace the rear spring with a BBR unit available right here on this sight. The front springs are there as well.

My CRF70 rider is about 40 or 45 lbs soaking wet. Not a worry for me yet! Heck my oldest on the CRF80 is maybe 55lbs…

thanks man, that is a lot of help. Which one would be a better upgrade between the 2 you listed above? Whice one would you do? I am a little concern about just stiffing up the spring causing his back end to bounce around and be loose..
    opinions????

    thanks,
    Dereck.

All good points/questions. I’m not familiar with the shock on ebay. You would have to do some research. Sure looks cool! An adjustable shock will always be better as you can dial it in to your liking.
I am familiar with BBR’s quality and have no issues recommending it. Would it be a pogo with your 65lb son on it… likely it’s a much higher spring rate. But it would be great for you!

BTW I could not find any information about this manufacturer… AMR racing. If you do let me know.

here is another one... No name again... but it's 10.5 inches so it should fit the 70. You would have to measure yours to be sure. And hey... the bidding is at a buck!
