CRF50 suspension mods for youth riding mx

    by taser1975 » Wed Dec 09, 2009 2:23 pm

Howdy all, we just purchased a new CRF50 (07) for my six year old and everything I read says that the stock suspension really needs some attention to make it worthy of jumping, cornering, and all the ruts on MX tracks. He weighs about 70 LBS and is quite tall for his age. I don't want to go crazy and replace it with big money parts, but a few hundred would be in range. Has anyone done anything to either modify the stock or purchased replacement parts? The other issue is all the heavy duty springs or rear shocks are made for adult pit bike apps which will not work for the little guy. I also read about replacing the rear swingarm w/ a CRf70's swingarm to add a couple inches. Please one and all give me some feedback and ideas. Thanks in advance!

just an idea, you could ring around some suspension places and see if they can custom make some springs to suit his riding and weight
