Just bought my youngest son who is 8 a 70 and was wondering what kind of mods I can do to give it a little more pep but nothing to extreme. As he is coming from a knock off 70 quad. He wanted to go 2 wheels instead of 4 which I'm real happy about. I hated that stupid quad. He doesn't know he has it yet he is visitng his mother for the summer and I'm gonna suprise him when he gets back home and just wanted to give it a little more pep. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. When I had the CRF50 I tried the K&N Slip on air filter and never could get it to run right. I played with the jetting and fuel screw but to no avail. Are the 70's as tempermental?

for some pep. set the suspension to his height, weight....etc also another idea is to give it a Big Bore Kit to be and 88CC or sumthin

The 70 is pretty good stock. My 8 year old has been riding a kx60 and when I had a problem he rode my daughters 70 and had a blast on it. They go pretty good. When he gets better you can upgrade to a two stroke. Then keep the 70 for the bathroom pit bike around camp. Don't forget too much too fast is bad with girlfriends/wifes and kids. lol

True true. He will always have his brothers KX65 sitting in the wing when he is ready for a clutch he rode it a few times and just doesn't have the coordination for the clutch quiet yet. but he will get it.

My son was on the 70 for about a month, my daughter will be on it until she is 21. lol She just doesn't have what it takes.

A quick/cheap mod for the 70 is going to a 13 tooth front sprocket. It gives it a little more pep off the line, makes shifting from 1st to 2nd a little easier, and again it's cheap. With stock gears, the 70 needs a lot of room to hit max speed in third.

Put that 13 tooth sprocket on there and wow what I differance. Even lugging my fat butt around I noticed it. My son weighs in at 56 lbs. He was scooting along pretty good yesterday. He even said it was a big improvement. He also jumped it for the first time yesterday, took a good spill but came out unscaved. Only problem is when I get him back racing here in September. The class (0-110 autoclutch) he will run in says no motifcations it has to be the way it was when you bought it. Think I will be able to get away with it? LOL

One more ? Are the plastics for a 70 and a 50 the same?

No, they are not the same. They look close and some will tell you that the 50, 70, and 80 are the same, but it's not true. they get a little bigger each size. Hope that helps.

Yes it does thanks! My youngest decided to melt his right number plate on his muffler. So i was gonna get all white plastics for it to match my CR250. But UFO doesn't have them for the 70 just the 50. I'll have to give them a call to see if they do make them . Thanks again.

Cool. Don't fall for the "oh yeah, they'll fit". One of the better places to get CRF70 specific stuff is BBR.
